The 2023 growing season in Paso Robles was extended due to the wet winter and cool spring weather, allowing extra hang time for fruit to develop flavor, without sacrificing acidity. The resulting wine shows beautiful complexity and depth, with concentrated fruit flavors including dark cherry, blackberry, and cassis. Aging in French oak deepens our flavor profile, contributing to the tobacco and spice notes. The structure is firm but approachable, providing a fine backbone for the rich fruit.

Sourced from four distinct sub-districts with unique elevations, climates, and soils:
ESTRELLA VINEYARD, ESTRELLA DISTRICT – Hot days and moderate evenings foster ripe fruit flavors and well-developed phenolics.
EL POMAR DISTRICT – Near the Templeton Gap, cool marine air allows grapes to maintain acidity and develop complexity over a prolonged growing season.
GENESEO DISTRICT – The warmer climate ensures ripe fruit, balanced acidity, and refined tannins.
SAN MIGUEL DISTRICT – Limestone soils lend a distinct minerality to the wines, which tend to be full bodied with well integrated tannins.

“Mise En Place” is a French culinary phrase meaning “everything in its place.” This name reflects the preparation and diligence exercised in thevineyards and winery.
Grapes are sourced from two vineyards situated on the west side of Oakville: Holmes Vineyard, a highly regarded vineyard with which we have a long-standing relationship; and Lincoln Creek Vineyard, a certified organic vineyard producing the popular Cabernet Clone 7. These vineyards lie in close proximity to several renowned cult Cabernet Sauvignon vineyards and are dedicated to farming for the superb quality
Grapes were hand-harvested, gently de-stemmed, and cold-soaked for two days prior to fermentation. After 34-40 days on the skins, lots were gently pressed into barrel to complete malolactic fermentation. Aged for nearly two years in French oak from renowned cooperages Nadalié and Giraud.

2023 Sonoma County Chardonnay

Crafted from carefully selected lots grown in the Dry Creek Valley and Russian River Valley AVAs of Sonoma County, this wine was fermented in French Oak barrels with partial malolactic conversion. Lively and juicy, it offers a flinty minerality on the mid-palate, balanced by a refreshingly bright fruit character. Aromas of white flowers, pear, pineapple, caramel and pie crust are followed by peach, lemon curd and toasted almond flavors on the palate. A ‘textbook’ expression of the cooler-climate Sonoma growing region.

Barrel fermenting in new French Oak produces well-integrated toasty aromas and underlying weight to the mid-palate, without overpowering the fruit flavors.
With meticulous attention to the diacetyl levels, partial malolactic fermentation provides a creamy, lush texture while maintaining a refreshing, lifted profile.
The region’s well-draining soils are primarily made up of gravel, sandstone, and shale - rich in minerals and nutrients.
